Lindsey's New Room

This weekend my Dad and I painted Lindsey's room. It was the final thing we wanted to do to change her from a "baby" room to a little girl's room. As I put in November on this blog, we started this with buying here a big girl bed. (check out the November archive to see how much we've done since then) Since then we bought her two big rugs, a furry purple bed spread, and some pink and purple beads to hang under her bed. Under her bed is her little area where she can read with a table, lamp, and chair. So, this weekend we painted her room purple... her favorite color. We also added hot pink drapes that have some glitter in them. We also put some purple beads in the window. Then on the wall, we hung pink letters that spell "Lindsey" to the left of the bed. We still have a few things to do... we want to add some pictures to the wall... but it's 99% finished!

Another Weekend, Another Birthday Party!!

It seems like every weekend Lindsey has a birthday party to go to for all of her friends! On March 18th she went to Sydnie's birthday party. Lindsey goes to school with Sydnie. The party was at a gym at the top of the Metropolitan Bank Tower in downtown Little Rock. She played so much at the party, she came home TIRED!!

Lindsey Scrapbooking

On Friday March 17th our friends, Robin and Matt, came over so Robin and Laurie could scrapbook and Matt and I could watch the NCAA tournament. Since Lindsey likes any kind of creative activities, she decided to scrapbook with Robin and Laurie. Robin gave Lindsey some paper and let her use her scrapbooking scissors. Lindsey had a blast and was very proud of her scrapbook pages!

Our Little Scholar!!

Today Laurie and I had our second parent/teacher conference with Lindsey's teacher, Mrs. Bounds. She had nothing but great things to say about Lindsey!! They have started to work on reading with her and some of the other students. They cannot force them to do it because reading skills are not supposed to be taught until kindergarten... but Mrs. Bounds says Lindsey is eager to learn to read! Lindsey is also learning to sound out words to learn to spell them. Mrs. Bounds showed us a picture Lindsey had drawn of a flower and out beside the drawing she had written "flrw." There was another of them where she had drawn a house and she had written "hse." She said Lindsey had done this all by herself without the teachers asking her to do it!! Mrs. Bounds says she is more than ready for kindergarten!

Future Olympian?

This Saturday we went ice skating with a friend of mine, Daryn. Lindsey has always wanted to go since she's seen people on television do it. However, she found out quickly that it was much harder than it looked. At first she said she wanted to go home, but by the time Laurie and I were ready to go, she said she wanted to stay! She asked the whole way home "when can I go back?" She was never able to skate by herself. We had to help her. However by the end of the night she was able to stand without falling! In one of the pictures you can see her hold her leg up to the front. This was her version of figure skating!!

Muffins With Mom

On Friday February 3rd at Lindsey's school they had a "Muffins with Mom" morning. They invited all the moms to have breakfast with the kids. Laurie went to school late so she could go. She said they ate and then all the kids sang songs. Laurie said Lindsey sat at the front of the class and sang at the top of her lungs (you can see her sitting up front in the above picture)
